Individual Psychotherapy for Adults

Helping you find more freedom and fulfillment in your life, while also developing a deeper connection to both yourself and others.

I know first-hand how disruptive experiences of trauma, anxiety, and depression can be in our ability to feel satisfied in life, to have meaningful relationships, and to feel like we are thriving rather than surviving. I also know that things can be different when the right conditions for healing are available to us.

From an early age, we begin to create solidified beliefs about how things are, and these beliefs create feelings of safety and predictability. Yet maybe these ways of protecting ourselves have led us to feel ashamed of who we are. Perhaps you internalized the belief that who you are, or what you think or feel, is not ok. You have learned to hide different parts of yourself in order to maintain a sense of belonging. But after a while, you have found yourself feeling pretty stuck and disheartened because these beliefs or patterns of behavior that you have developed throughout your life are now leaving you feeling disconnected: both from yourself and from others.

Maybe you’ve found that these patterns keep you from having meaningful and authentic relationships. You want so badly to connect with a partner(s), friends, or family members, but fears of rejection, abandonment, or criticism keep you from fully expressing yourself and asking for what you want and need. Maybe you find that you lose yourself in order to maintain connection with another, which ends up leaving you feeling depleted, disconnected, or even resentful.

Perhaps you find yourself turning to things to try and numb out or disconnect from life. Attempts at self-soothing and coping with difficult emotions turn into unconscious, habitual, or addictive patterns. What you hoped would bring relief instead leaves you feeling empty, unfulfilled, and even out of control.

If any of this sounds like something you experience, please reach out. Greater freedom is possible.
